I'm back, figured I'd do one of these...
gatesphere replied to gatesphere's topic in New users say Hi!
Well, it's not too bad. I could complain, but that's not my style. I'm about to finish my undergrad, though, so that's a good thing. -
Thanks, this is exactly what I need! Plus, this will give me much more room to breathe. -->Jake

Hi all, I find myself in need of about 2k-4k of ram, accessible in 8bit or larger words. I would like to keep this project on the LaunchPad (my target is the g2452), so I'm looking for an external RAM IC. My requirements are: [*:3rp40ile]Fairly cheap (<$1.50 or so per chip, in quantities of 1000 or more) [*:3rp40ile]2k+ [*:3rp40ile]DIP package for prototyping [*:3rp40ile]SPI interface preferrable, but I2C or other protocols work [*:3rp40ile]Does not need a driver Does anyone have any suggestions? I've looked through the TI site, and can't find *any* memory ICs that aren't

Is the MSPhere project work stopped completely ?
gatesphere replied to jayachar88's topic in MSPhere Community Forum
Hi Jay, Sorry to have let this lament for so long, but as far as I'm concerned, the MSPhere project is dead. I had some unfortunate life events pull me away from mcu work, and I've since lost interest in this project. Not to mention, there have been several other projects that attempt the same thing and pull it off much better than MSPhere... friendly_launchpad and EasyMSP come to mind, as does a neat little project porting the Arduino IDE to a LaunchPad compatible form: Energia. Hope this helps! -->Jake -
Hello all, I'm back at work with MSPs after a long hiatus. Sorry about that... life got in the way. Anyways, for those of you who have been a regular on this forum from it's inception, you might remember me as the guy who started the MSPhere framework, or maybe the one who made terrible noises from a launchpad. Or maybe even the one who went dumpster diving and found some old Heathkit programmable computers. For those of you who have appeared since my departure around a year and a half ago, hi, I'm Jake. Nice to meet you I'm hoping to dive into a large-scale, low-cost project

MSPhere - Arduino-like framework of functions for the MSP430

Agreed. The maintainer of EasyMSP has done some great work, and I highly recommend his library. -

It's ... temporarily dead. I've been dealing with a lot of family things lately, so it's going to be a while before I do anything with it. -
I loved the HoN beta, when I was in it. But I can't really justify spending money on that game because I was terrible at it and don't have a headset.

Recently I've been playing a lot of Diablo II... again. My addiction to that game never wears out.

FRAM Experimenter's Board coupon code 50% off
gatesphere replied to bluehash's topic in Embedded Systems/Test Equipment Deals
Just a forewarning, mine came with male headers pre-soldered, which is of little use for prototyping. It includes female headers, but I'm a bit fickle when it comes to desoldering through-hole components... I always lift a trace or three. So, I did this: http://www.43oh.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=1038 -

I'm not sure what's going on there, other than perhaps you don't have the correct runtime library defined? Check out what it says in the project's properties. I'd help you more, but I don't have IAR installed at the moment. Silly me, I didn't have a 'main()' in the code, sorry for blundering and creating confusion... Hahahaha... looks like your signature strikes again!

Trick for exposing female leads from male pin headers
gatesphere replied to gatesphere's topic in General Electronics
Thanks, bluehash They're a little wobbly, but the connections are solid. -
Hi all, I just came up with a neat trick for getting female leads from a male-populated board. My MSP-EXP430FR5739 (which was so graciously gifted to me by a member of this forum ) came with male headers prepopulated. I don't really have much use for male headers, but I didn't want to unsolder the male pins because I'm sloppy and tend to lift traces when I do that... so I came up with this solution, involving two pin jumpers I had pulled from an old motherboard ages ago, and female headers that came packaged with the board. Check it out. Thought this might help someone out there

Haha... yeah. No. Not happening (at least not from me). My code is horrible. Sorry about that... I'm experimenting with different stylesheets at the moment. I'm converting all of my sites to a more readable, classic, black and grey on white look. More minimalist than what I have now, even. -
Could be your body's natural capacitance. I believe I've read about someone else's doing that... and mine freaks out when I touch the pin header (not even the right pin).

Welcome! You've done much better work than my MSPhere library
