GG430 53
In the teardowns you can see that there's a big sticker covering that side of the SSD. So I guess some of the marking came off when removing the sticker. Probably right if it was printed but it's a laser marking on MSP430. The other devices which were marked with the colored frames in the picture are also still ok. I tried to look up other pictures of the SK Hynix HFS128G3AMNB SSD. But on the ones I found the MSP marking is just as hard to read. http://img01.taobaocdn.com/imgextra/i1/169682/T2yZJYXsBXXXXXXXXX_!!169682.jpg http://img.alibaba.com/img/pb/925/226/825/825226925_681.jpg
greeeg 460
My theory is that The one near the touch screen controller it is connected to the capacitive microsoft logo on the front of the device, because pressing it wakes up the device from sleep.
SixSixSevenSeven 23
ShotMaxx Timer to me looks very much like a TI Chronos with a different layout on the LCD, even the microphone they tout as a feature appears to be wirelessly paired to the watch and they do use accelerometer data, of course the chronos had both. To me the only thing I see as not chronos when I look at it is the new LCD layout.

To me the only thing I see as not chronos when I look at it is the new LCD layout. I wonder if they coordinated with TI? In the video he mentions that the data can be viewed on a phone app via bluetooth, which the chronos never had, so it's obviously different hardware, but the microphone+ usb charger looks like it's just stuck on top of a chronos watch shell. chicken 630
And here's another, older one that iFixit missed: MSP430F2272 in the Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight (I wonder if it's related to Mickey's GlowEars ) https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nook+Simple+Touch+with+GlowLight+Teardown/9301 PS: Yes, I'm a card-carrying member of teardownoholics anonymous bluehash
rtpburnsville 1
A recently purchased Electro-Harmonix volume pedal for musicians contains a MSP430. It's part of thier EHX next-step effects line. They have a couple other foot pedals that may or may not use a MSP part as well. Robert bluehash

chicken 630
Amazon likes their MSP430s: Kindle 7th Generation sports a MSP430G2513 under the bezel. https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Kindle+7th+Generation+Teardown/29802 As there's a separate touch controller, I guess the MSP430's role is to control the backlight and maybe waking up the device when the screen is touched. bluehash
Automate 69
Well, not an MSP but the Wink home automation hub does have two TI CC1101 for 433Mhz communications with Lutron and Kidde devices. The board is nicely labeled with the 5 different wireless radios (WiFi/BT, Z-wave, Zigbee, Lutron, Kidde) http://community.smartthings.com/t/wink-hub-teardown/3288 bluehash and cde
vinicius.jlantunes 50
I got this one in a distribution list about MSP430 I am subscribed to. http://www.korg.com/us/products/dj/monotron_duo/ It's a Korg synthesizer - and they release the schematics for those wanting to mod it: http://www.korg.com/download/global/monotron_duo_schematic/monotron_DUO_sch.pdf There you see an MSP430G2231. I did not figure out what it does. bluehash, tripwire and chicken
