  1. Serial Port Problem

I have an interesting problem that has been popping up over the last several months. I am presently using a MSP-EXP430G22553 Rev 1.5. I am running Energia 17. Every so often when I load a program into the editor, the serial port option on the tools menu will be grayed out. I am able to download the program into the board and the program will run but I am unable to open the serial port window. I am running Windows 7 and if I look at the ports in device manager, it show port 66 being assigned to the TI board. This problem will continue for several days and then suddenly it will start to work again. No matter what program I load, the problem will persist. Any thoughts would certainly be appreciated.

  3. Although all the LaunchPads feature a programmer-debugger, sometimes an external one might be useful. Segger has just launched the J-Link EDU Mini, with all the software and expertise of Segger, priced at just USD18! I'm very happy with the larger Segger J-Link Edu priced at USD60. I've ordered one J-Link EDU Mini and plan to review it.
  4. Borrowing Tools

Hi, I'm new here but just looking for feedback, Gerard suggested I start a new thread and ask my question to the group. The tl;dr version of the question: Do you borrow or share tools? Would you like to borrow or share more tools? We're testing the waters in developing a more structured Craigslist alternative for tool sharing. But I don't know enough about the tools involved in electronics and embedded software or the projects you are typically involved in so I don't know if tools other than a soldering iron are needed. What kind of tools do you typically want but cannot justify buying (or afford to buy). Or what type of tools do you own that people often want to own or borrow. The tools this makes the most sense for are either rare or expensive tools that you don't use everyday or for every project. In short, tools with high idle time. Also, is there a better forum that I should post this question in? Thanks for your feedback!
