  1. Now here's a set of fancy booster packs! It's a fully integrated automotive radar. http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/sensing-products/mmwave-sensors/awr/awr-tools-software.page#tools Those rectangles on the right with wiggly traces to the IC are the radar antenna. RF magic! The "CAUTION HOT SURFACE" warning label also promises excitement. Too bad they will cost $299 according to the press release. Posting in the ARM sub-forum as the radar IC features an R4F ARM core. Though the booster packs probably work with beefier MSP430 LaunchPads too. Edit: Here's the mmWave landing page. P1.5 - SCLK P1.6 - MISO P1.7 - MOSI P2.3 - /CS P2.4 - /INT P2.5 - /RST Configuration jumpers are on the bottom, PMODE1-PMODE3, LINK LED, and ACT LED. LED jumpers control which LEDs are used, on board or socket. Available on Tindie.

  7. I have few questions for users of LCD BoosterPacks.
  8. New LCD BoosterPacks are here. Both are 2.4" 320x240, one with touch panel, one without. Both feature the same pinout as their "little" 2.2" brother, same configuration options and SD socket.   9. I just got the msp430G2 launchpad with the MSP430G2553 mcu. For stepper motor driver im using the boost-drv8711 boosterpack. I was able to get it running with the tutorial that it came with. However i cant run it with Energia. It might be because of the enable bit (0x0) but i dont know how to set it 1 on energia. Do any of you have any experiance of this setup ? The motor im running is bipolar sanyo denki 103h5208-5240.   10. I'm using CC110L Boosterpack with TIva C. I tried example codes provided in Energia. I want to use this boosterpack for my project. And I'm using Keil for programming. So any one can provide CC110L and SPI libraries for Keil???????

  12. Hi 43oh! It seemed like there was some interest in my solid state relay board, so I figured I'd post up the design files. Because of liability reasons (being high voltage and what not) I can't produce this, but your welcome to get some boards made and solder them yourself. Be warned, soldering the heat-sinks to the board is VERY DIFFICULT! You'll need a board pre-heater, hot air, and some good flux.   13. After couple of years and many ideas, I have finally settled on a design for my experimenter's board. Say hello to EduKit BoosterPack. The EduKit BP comes with 1.8" color LCD and 8 accessory connectors. Each connector provides access to power and 2 or 4 MCU pins and are used to connect accessory boards. Those boards will allow user to perform tests and experiments, and could be used to teach about MCU's. There are also 4 jumpers on the board, which are used to change LCD's connections. LCD can use SPI1 (UCA0) or SPI2 (UCB0,) CS and D/C have also 2 possible connection options. Accessory boards can be simple, for example switch, LED, or potentiometer, or can be more complex, like shift register, mic with amp, sensors, MIDI, GPS. The EduKit is meant to be used with MSP430G2 LaunchPad (though it could be used with any other LP,) and will come with a library that will allow easy setup and use of LCD. User can write his code and then display results using one of the included functions (text, bar graph, etc.)
  14. I am confused about the compatibility of BoosterPacks. According to the TM4C123 pub spmu296.pdf: * The TM4C123 is compatible with the "TIVA C Series LaunchPad BoosterPack XL" * The outer column of pins are also compatible with MSP430 "LaunchPad-Compatible BoosterPacks" In the TM4C129 pub spmu365a.pdf it describes the first and second BoosterPack XL. "‘A’ and ‘D’ make up the outer BoosterPack standard pins, ‘B’ and ‘C’ make up the inner BoosterPack XL standard pins." On examining the pinouts between the 123 and 1294 for these 2x10 pins, none of the pin functions match. How do I identify which boards a BoosterPack will be compatible with? Some BP descriptions say " for the MSP430." Most do not mention compatibility.
  15. Interesting: The MSP430FR4133 reference designs for a thermostat and a water meter come with BoosterPack headers. However the pin-out seems to be only partial.   16. Here are two BoosterPacks from 4D Systems, 96 x 64 pixels OLED and 128 x 128 pixels TFT. They both contain powerful GOLDELOX graphics processor, 5 switches, and a microSD socket. GOLDELOX and LaunchPad communicate using async serial interface. The memory card can be used to store images, icons, video clips and data. Work on the library is in progress.
  17. Hi Everyone! Recently, I released a Bluetooth Low Energy BoosterPack based on the BLE112 module from Bluegiga. The full-featured BoosterPack is a bit expensive, but there are a few different options that can make the BoosterPack very reasonable. I wanted to create this post so that you guys can ask me any questions you may have about it. Blank PCB: $10 - The BLE BoosterPack was designed with 0805 components and other easy to solder parts making it easy to hand assemble. For $10, you get a blank BoosterPack that can you assemble yourself. The layout and bill of materials (BOM) is available on GitHub. If you need help with finding a component on Mouser or Digikey, let me know. BLE Only: $40 - This options contains all you need to use the BLE112 module with a LaunchPad. Additionally, the USB connector is included, allowing stand-alone use with your PC and USB firmware updates. This means that you don't need the CC Debugger to update the BLE112 firmware. Complete with Linear Regulator: $50 - Rather than using a switching regular, this option uses a linear regulator to reduce cost. Other than using a different regulator, this is the full-featured BoosterPack. Complete with Switching Regulator: $65 - If you care about maximizing your battery life, this is the board for you. Using the TI recommended switching regulator, this board can has unbeatable power consumption. Check out the demo video for a bit more info. While the full-featured board is a bit pricey, it does include all you need to make your project completely wireless: A BLE module, a lithium battery charging circuit, and low-power voltage regulator.   18. Using my RedBot BoosterPack I have created a small remote control robot. The motors + chassis costs $15 from SparkFun so it's a pretty low cost solution to get started in robotics. On the controller side I use the CC1101L for wireless communication and the Educational BoosterPack MKII for the joystick. The F5529 LaunchPad simply reads the joystick value and decides which way the robot should move and transmits the data using the CC1101L. Here is a picture of the controller, note the CC1101L is on the bottom of the LaunchPad to make the joystick easy to use. On the robot side the F5529 LaunchPad is connected to the CC1101L BoosterPack to receive the data from the joystick. It then uses the RedBot BoosterPack to control the robot. The GitHub repository is located here, which includes hardware + software. The remote control code isn't uploaded yet but will be once I clean it up. And now a video of it in action (phone quality).
  19. I have finished my first revision of the RedBot BoosterPack. For those that don't know SparkFun has a robotics kit they call the "RedBot". Which is basically an Arduino, robot chassis and a bunch of sensors. This BoosterPack basically replaces the Arduino and allows you to plug in your favorite 40-pin LaunchPad to interact with the hardware. Check out my GitHub link below for more information on the differences. SparkFun sells the robot chassis and motors for $15 on its website, using it with this BoosterPack and a LaunchPad is a low cost way to get into robotics. I have started to port the Arduino library to Energia and currently have support for the motors. The GitHub project below has a lot more info and the current project status.   21. hi all, I'm trying to use an Ethernet module that i bought called "Ethernet LAN Module for Arduino / microcontrollers with SPI (ENC26J80)". I found a few example for it for different MSP430's but i cant get it to work. Does anyone know how to make it work? witch pins to connect and example code would be great. thanks, Ofer.
  22. I'm developing a BoosterPack, and want to tap into the 5VDC available on the LP, at TP1. I'm having trouble finding a 1 pin header/socket to make the connection. Actually the header/pin part is easy, but does anyone have an idea where to find a 1 pin socket to mate with it?
  23. Hi! Just wanted to let everyone know that BoosterPack templates (20 pin and 40 pin) are now available in Upverter. If you haven't tried Upverter yet, its a super cool and pretty polished online hardware design tool that will let you import popular formats like EAGLE and design PCB completely in the browser. It allows for real time collaboration in the cloud (think google docs for board layout and schematics).   24. Hi all! Just wanted to share my led cube boosterpack with everyone. This is basically a sized reduced version of my last led cube that was built using the ek-lm4f232 and a hand built protoboard: http://forum.stellarisiti.com/topic/268-8x8x8-led-cube/ That took way too much time so a sized reduced PCB was the next goal. The code now supports both the ek-lm4f232 and ek-lm4f120xl LaunchPad. In addition, there's no reason why the MSP430 or C2000 and all future LaunchPads couldn't be used as the BoosterPack only makes use of the outside pins.   25. Hey everyone! Here is a Stepper Motor BoosterPack I have been working on that utilizes the DRV8825. I just ordered the boards today and will be working on some code samples while I wait on them. The DRV8825 can drive one bipolar stepper motor or two DC motors. It has a 8.2-V to 45-V supply range with 2.5-A peak at 24-V. I tried to design for the full operating range of the chip while maintaining the BoosterPack size guidelines. http://www.ti.com/product/drv8825 Let me know what you think!
